In case of an edge FM system is a basic problem to supply the receiver with suitable leveled signals. Our customer asked us to realize an active 4/8-way splitter with 50 Ohms input impedance matched to the aerial, 75 Ohms output impedance matched to the recever. The total attenuation have had to be 0 dB, while the signal route have had to be superredundant. The latter means two independent switching mode power supplies and two independent gain stages. The swichover is controlled by wired logic based on the bias of the amplifiers, while in case of power cut a passive route is used. COMTECH has built the described device in 1U size.
